Plymouth
Montserrat
The Latter Day Pompeii DVD
The
story of the life and death of the Emerald City
A Comprehensive Compilation of Plymouth (120 minutes)
On July 18th of 1995, Montserrat’s sleeping
volcano rumbled back to life after hundreds of years of
dormancy. Over the next fifteen years, David Lea’s 9 part, “Price of Paradise” video series
kept the Montserrat community and many others around the world
informed of the incredible events taking place during those
volcanic days.
Now from this extensive archive he has taken the
incredible images of Plymouth and created a “video journal”
that begins in the late 1800’s. He includes a drive around
town in 1984, the first ash falls, evacuations, pyroclastic
flows, town burning and then the endless lahars that have
finally buried our beautiful 300 year old capital city.
The bonus items show before and after scenes of
the devastation of the village of Harris, completely swept
away by the dome collapse of February 11, 2010, PLUS a special
music video that captures all the special places that we loved in the
southern half of the island.
This DVD is not just an important record for us
today, but it is also an irreplaceable historical document for
the generations to come.

The Price Of Paradise
Eight Volume DVD Disc Set which includes the Magic Of
Montserrat
Complete video journal containing
all 8 original pre-released volumes plus the Magic Of
Montserrat bonus DVD (16 hours)
On July
18th of 1995, Montserrat’s sleeping volcano rumbled back
to life after hundreds of years of dormancy. Over the
next 8 years David Lea’s “Price of Paradise” video
series (in First Edition volumes) kept the Montserrat community, at home and
abroad, and many other interested people around the
world, informed of the incredible events that took place
during those harrowing, volcanic days. In 2003, Lea’s
Living Letters Productions released the first
compilation DVD of the entire series called, “Memories
of Montserrat”.
Now LLP has released all eight original
volumes in a DVD format that transports the viewer
through a fifteen hour “video journal” of an unfolding
disaster. The story begins with the first steam vents in
the Tar River Valley in 1995 and then takes you through
the incredible explosions of 1997 and the deaths of 19
islanders. Evacuations, dome collapses, ash falls and
blackouts make for an unforgettable story. The
additional bonus DVD chronicles the magic that makes
Montserrat such a special place. This is a must-see for
anyone with a heart for Montserrat, a wonderful buffet
of vivid memories. It’s not only an incredible record
for us today, but also a lasting historical document for
the generations to come.

David

educational project. This 2007 Edition not only tells the
story of the eruption, but also looks into the major volcanic
processes of andesite volcanoes, describes the products and
effects of the eruption, introduces modern methods of
monitoring an active volcano, and shows the human consequences
of volcanic activity on a small island community.
Professor
Steve Sparks of Bristol University (UK) explains
the phenomena and then takes you on a video field trip where
you will learn about the plate tectonic origin of andesite
volcanoes, lava dome growth, the chemistry and mineralogy of
andesite, pyroclastic flows, explosive eruptions, ash fall,
debris avalanche, volcanic blasts, lahars and volcanic
hazards. Spectacular and unique video images of each
